Peter Greste is an award-winning Australian journalist of Latvian ancestry, who has worked for a number of media organizations including Reuters, CNN, WTN and the BBC.
On 29 December 2013, he and two other Al Jazeera English journalists, Mohamed Fahmy and Baher Mohamed, were arrested by Egyptian authorities.
On June 23rd 2014, after a trial which attracted worldwide attention, Peter and his two colleagues were convicted of reporting false news and endangering Egypt’s national security. He was sentenced to seven years jail. He remains in Cairo’s Tora Prison.
Join us in showing our support for Peter, his family, and freedom of the press around the world, as he languishes along with other journalists, unjustly, in the Egyptian prison system.
